Mount Kilamanjaro

Hi everyone,

Today's post is not a usual BOF post but I am happy to tell you about something very exciting (and a little nerve wracking) that I will be undertaking in February, and hopefully inspire you to save some lives and donate.

In February 2016 I will be climbing Mount Kilimanjaro, in Tanzania, in aid of WaterAid a wonderful charity that helps to provide the world with clean water, a mission I think is extremely important. In the world over 750 million people live without safe water and 2.5 billion people don't have access to adequate sanitation. That is one in three of the world's population. To me this just does not seem right. However WaterAid are helping to stop this and transforming lives all over the world by delivering taps, toilets and so much more. Their work is incredible.

What and why?

I will be trekking the 11 day Rongai Route, a much quieter route, and one which approaches from the north entailing climbing 5895m over an 11 day period. Those who know me, know that I have never been one for fitness, (I mean I go to the gym but nowhere near as much as I should,) so this endeavour is going to be an enormous challenge for me and many are probably questioning why I am doing it. The reasoning behind this is that I believe that by challenging ourselves we can achieve so much more that we expect and as I am in a fortunate position having food, water and a roof over my head it seems right to try and help those who do not and do something amazing in the process. WaterAid is a fantastic charity so why not help them to make the world a better place.

I would be forever grateful for your donation, a contribution towards a brighter future. To donate click the link below:

You will see I have added a new Donate page where this post will be so you can donate at the click of a button.
